How every session should feel
You rate what you feel from 1 to 10, so the load, volume and progression can be adjusted rather than guessed. Strong movement is safe movement.
- Awareness, 1 out of 10You subtly feel the area working. It can be worked on safely, with care.
- Discomfort, 2 to 3 out of 10Unpleasant but tolerable and controlled, not disabling. Worked on with caution after a safe warm-up.
- Pain, 4 to 10 out of 10Sharp, pinching or a deep ache that changes how you move. Avoided, to keep you clear of further injury.
About Michael
Strong movement is safe movement.
Exfortis is Michael Wawrzyniak's practice. It aims to improve quality of life through strength training and rehabilitation.
Michael works with people recovering from injury or past the early post-surgery phase, people living with chronic health conditions, beginners and returning lifters, older adults keeping their independence, and athletes from novice to high level.
He has trained clients in the gym for nine years, has more than 12.5 years of his own training behind him, and has played a wide variety of sports at a competitive level, most recently powerlifting. He knows the demands of competitive sport and the detail of rehabilitation, and works closely with physiotherapists and your other healthcare providers.
“The goal is not to ‘get back to lifting’ as quickly as possible. The goal is to return stronger, more robust, and better prepared than before.”

What does an exercise physiologist do?
Exercise physiology uses prescribed exercise to prevent, manage and treat chronic health conditions, diseases and injuries. At Exfortis it starts with a structured assessment, then an individualised program of rehabilitation and strength training that is reviewed as you progress.
What happens at my first appointment?
Your initial consultation is a structured assessment, the first step to an individualised program with regular reassessment and ongoing support. Wear comfortable exercise clothes, bring any relevant medical documentation and arrive 5 to 10 minutes early.
How long is a consultation?
Both the initial consultation and standard consultations run for 55 minutes. Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice are charged the full fee, so please give a day's notice if you need to change a booking.
How much does a consultation cost?
Prices for the initial consultation and standard consultations are listed on the online booking page, beside each appointment type. Depending on your level of private health cover, you may be able to claim a rebate.
Can I claim a rebate from my private health fund?
You may be eligible for a rebate, depending on your level of cover. There is no HICAPS machine on site, so you receive a receipt to submit to your health fund. If you are claiming through any other scheme, call or email Michael before you book.
Can exercise physiology help before or after surgery?
Yes. Leading up to surgery, Michael can prescribe exercise to help prepare your body for the procedure. After surgery, Exfortis does not provide care in the very early stages of rehab, but works closely with experienced physiotherapists to support your recovery, with the focus on returning safely to exercise and regaining strength.
Do you work with athletes and lifters?
Yes. Exfortis works with athletes on injury prevention and performance, building strength and conditioning into pre-season training. Sessions also help resolve niggles and acute injuries, improve movement and lifting technique, and explain the biomechanics and science of exercise behind it.
Where is Exfortis, and is there parking?
Exfortis is at Zero Weakness Gym, 203 Lutwyche Rd, Windsor QLD 4030, in Brisbane's inner north. Parking is available at the shopping precinct across the road or in front of the gym.
What are your opening hours?
Monday to Friday 5am to 6:30pm, and Saturday 7am to 10am. Closed Sunday. Free appointment times are shown on the online booking calendar. If a time you need is consistently unavailable, contact Michael and he will do his best to fit you in.
Is the clinic wheelchair accessible?
Unfortunately, no. The clinic is not wheelchair accessible.
Is Primal Strength and Composition part of Exfortis?
Primal Strength and Composition is the sister business of Exfortis, with the same owner and phone number: strength coaching, body composition guidance and online programs, at the same Windsor gym. For clinical exercise physiology, book with Exfortis.
